Capacity building and baseline strengthening towards a transport sector GHG mitigation actions portfolio for Bogotá
Capacity building and baseline strengthening towards a transport sector GHG mitigation actions portfolio for Bogotá
The transport sector is the third largest contributor to GHG emissions in Colombia, with an overall contribution of 12% of all GHG emissions for 2014, for a total of 29.3MtCO2eq.
The city of Bogota reported 10,6 MtCO2eq in the 2016 GHG inventory. In that year, the transport sector contributed with 6,14MtCO2eq in Bogotá, making the city the biggest contributor to GHG emissions from the transport sector nationwide, and making up for nearly 58% of local GHG emissions.
The goal of this readiness proposal is twofold, first, it aims to develop an MRV system for the transport sector in Bogota, including the development of a systematized tool for the estimation of GHG emissions inventories and for GHG reduction calculations for transport projects, as well as the institutional arrangements for this system, and second, using the developed tools it seeks to determine a robust portfolio of transport projects in Bogota to be supported by climate investments and specifically develop a concept note for one prioritized project.
