Climate Change Adaptation: Ecosystem- based adaptation (EbA) in semi-arid ecosystems to increase rural resilience in Moldova

The Ministry of Environment (MoEnv) has endorsed the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) as the Accredited Entity (AE) to support the development of the “Climate Change Adaptation: Ecosystem-based solutions in semi-arid ecosystems to increase rural resilience in Moldova” project. This project addresses increasing impacts of climate change (CC) on semi-arid ecosystems and water security in South Development Region of Moldova, addressing issues like increasing of temperatures, water scarcity, floods and droughts affecting vulnerable ecosystems and rural communities. Focused on nine districts, it enhances climate resilience through Ecosystem-based Adaptation afforestation, refore- station, and habitat restoration. Furthermore, key elements include the development of capacity, knowledge transfer on climate resilient management within the public and private sector. The ultimate beneficiaries are rural communities highly dependent on Ecosystem Services and focus lies on their direct and indirect involvement in the planned activities. Up to now, ADA has disposed financial resources to prepare the concept note (CN) and scoping study
