Enhancing Thailand’s Capacity for Climate Adaptation through Risk-informed Anticipatory Actions to Flood and Drought

Enhancing Thailand’s Capacity for Climate Adaptation through Risk-informed Anticipatory Actions to Flood and Drought
This Readiness proposal intends to address the key issue in Thailand on the insufficient understanding of disaster risk and climate change vulnerability and the ability to formulate evidence-based actions. Gaining a comprehensive understanding would enable authorities to implement effective measures to prepare for and mitigate these risks. As climate change makes disasters more severe, frequent, and unpredictable, sectors like tourism, agriculture, and water management are particularly vulnerable. To adapt, Thailand must base actions on up-to-date, evidence-based information about risks and vulnerabilities. This includes enhancing the Early Warning System to incorporate impact-based forecasting and developing sustained adaptation measures, policies, and actions accordingly.
