It is with deep sadness that GCF announces the death of our colleague and friend Leonardo Paat Jr.

Leo had been with GCF since 2016, serving first as Environment Specialist, then as Senior Environment and Social Specialist and latterly as Environment and Social Safeguards, Gender and Indigenous Peoples Manager.

He was a highly respected colleague with a passion for the environment and a strong dedication to GCF. During his time with GCF Leo made a huge contribution to the development of the Fund’s environment and social standards, gender policy, and indigenous peoples policy.

Leo was deeply loved and admired, and his sudden passing is the cause of shock and sadness amongst his family, friends, and his colleagues in the Secretariat.

Our thoughts are with Leo’s family.
