Low emissions cattle ranching landscape: a sustainable and climate responsive alternative for rural development in Colombia
Low emissions cattle ranching landscape: a sustainable and climate responsive alternative for rural development in Colombia
Rural development is urgent in a post-conflict scenario in Colombia. GHG emissions from AFOLU sector account for 55% of the total (with deforestation as the main driver) and recent climate extreme events generated losses in the order of billions of US dollars. This motivates this low-emissions cattle ranching landscape project to focus on promoting a sustainable and climate-responsive alternative for rural development in Colombia. To achieve this objective, project activities will focus on five interlinked components: readiness, climate-resilient farming systems, strengthening territorial local governance, market integration, and lessons and strategies to scale-up the model.
