This readiness proposal seeks to strengthen Nicaragua’s climate governance and capacity, with the end-goal of establishing an effective set of mechanisms that will enable effective access to GCF resources both from the public and private sectors.

Specifically, this readiness proposal is designed to: 1) help consolidate ongoing efforts to establish a solid national climate governance framework, using access to GCF as a model for the access to concessional climate finance; 2) mainstream the process that leads to the presentation of solid project concept notes and full funding proposals from both the public and private sectors; and 3) identify existing bottlenecks that could unlock climate finance flows into the country.
