Strengthening capacities to scale up climate finance in Cuba and development of project pipeline with funding proposals on adaptation and mitigation
Cuba has made progress in improving enabling conditions for access to climate finance through the results obtained in the GCF-Readiness grant (CUB-RS-001) managed and coordinated by UNDP and the National Designated Authority (NDA). However, Cuba still needs to address a group of barriers and challenges that impede the country's sustained access to climate finance.
The current readiness proposal will enable the Government of Cuba to strengthen its capacity to scale up climate finance in the country, developing a project pipeline in correspondence with the priorities agreed in Cuba’s Country Program with the GCF.
The current Readiness support request will address the following challenges:
- Strengthening of human, technical and institutional capacities
- Strengthening of strategic frameworks to guide GCF investments in complementarity with other climate donors
- Strengthening of the pipeline management process, based on strategic frameworks and work programmes
