The Green Climate Fund (GCF) Enhancing Direct Access (EDA) pilot aims to increase access to climate finance by sub-national, national and regional, public and private entities and devolve decision-making to institutions, organizations and other actors in the front-line of mitigation and adaptation actions, especially at the local level.
The GCF EDA was launched as a pilot in June 2016, and it is currently being reviewed. To further expand its access, efficiency and usage, the GCF Secretariat intends to collect feedback, input, and views from its National Designated Authorities/Focal Points, Accredited Entities, and in particular Direct Access Entities, as well as Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector Organizations, and all partners and actors involved in locally led climate action.
This consultative webinar will first present a few options to increase the relevance and impact of the EDA approach for achieving climate mitigation and adaptation results based on the input received by several stakeholders during an event on the GCF EDA that took place in January 2021, as part of the Global Gobeshona Conference 2021, Locally-led climate action with the GCF: EDA Pilot, held on 21 January 2021. The presentation will be followed by interactive Q&A and group discussions in parallel breakout sessions.
