GCF Update — 2018 Progress in Supporting Low-Emission and Climate-Resilient Development Pathways
Friday 4 May, 1830-2000 (Bonn 181)
The GCF Update brought together over 80 participants to a session introduced by Paul Oquist and Lennart Båge, GCF Co-Chairs.
The Co-Chairs highlighted GCF’s recent progress into maturity, including the approval of 23 projects worth over USD 1 billion in GCF resources at its most recent Board meeting, and suggested that the trigger for GCF replenishment would likely be reached this year.
The meeting provided a guide to GCF’s activities including readiness funding for developing countries, and the GCF portfolio.
Executive Director Howard Bamsey closed the meeting, highlighting GCF’s proven ability to cope with rapidly increasing demands for support from developing countries, notably through readiness support, the project preparation facility, and adaptation planning, all of which are key to GCF’s success in increasing the volume and quality of its project portfolio.
