Strategic frameworks and entity support for Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia through OECS Commission
Strategic frameworks and entity support for Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia through OECS Commission
The six Member States of the OECS which are party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement (PA) are at various stages in their GCF respective readiness processes. Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada and Dominica have already secured GCF funding for concrete project activities through the project “Integrated physical adaptation and community resilience through an enhanced direct access pilot in the public, private, and civil society sectors of three Eastern Caribbean small island developing states”. Nevertheless, the Member States face some common challenges, including with regard to project development, data and information and public-private engagement as well as inclusion of women.
The OECS Commission is seeking to support all of these Member States in accessing the Green Climate Fund, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and St, Vincent and the Grenadines. This request will begin to address some of the issues pertaining to project development; data and information gaps; public-private engagement; facilitate and support the participation of non-state stakeholders in project identification and development and address previously-identified fiduciary and related gaps within the Commission. We will therefore be working with entities including government ministries, non-governmental organisations, private sector, among others.
