GCF publishes the revised funding proposal schedule for B.23 and B.24
The Green Climate Fund has published the revised timeline for its twenty-third Board meeting and the tentative timeline for its twenty-fourth Board meeting (B.23 and B.24, respectively).
The Green Climate Fund has published the revised timeline for its twenty-third Board meeting and the tentative timeline for its twenty-fourth Board meeting (B.23 and B.24, respectively) following the decision by the Board at the twenty-second meeting to hold B.23 from 6 to 8 July 2019 in Songdo, Incheon, Republic of Korea. The timeline lists key dates leading to the Board meetings, where the 24 Board members decide on funding proposals brought forward by GCF Accredited Entities.
At its twenty-first meeting, the GCF Board took a decision to manage remaining available resources from its Initial Resource Mobilization according to priorities set by prior Board decisions, balancing commitments and diversity among Accredited Entities, across regions and across results areas. This decision included a specific allocation of resources, up to USD 600 million, for requests for proposals and pilot programmes including the Simplified Approval Process.
As a result, GCF can only consider a limited number of new proposals during the remainder of 2019. The GCF Board has launched the Fund’s first replenishment process, which is expected to culminate with a pledging session towards the end of 2019, in anticipation that programming of funded activities under the first replenishment period will commence for 2020 and beyond. GCF welcomes new proposals to build a strong, country-driven pipeline for its activities beyond 2019, delivering paradigm shift towards low-emissions, climate-resilient development.
The 23rd Board meeting will be held on 6-8 July 2019, while the 24th meeting will be held on 15-17 October 2019. The key dates for both meetings are as follows:
