This report provides an overview of the gender situation and key gender matters in South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland. In addition the assessment also discusses gender issues that are relevant to the Programme. This report used data collected from various sources, and the cited material can be provided upon request. In addition to the gender assessment, a gender action plan is also included in this assessment document. The report provides on overview of gender matters within SADC as a region, and also the gender matters in the individual countries mentioned.
