Despite the political will to deal with climate change impacts and prepare the plan of action to mitigate as well as measures to adapt to these changes, Montenegro lacks the technical capacity and financial resources to deal with new climate conditions. The activities under the GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme have the final goal of helping Montenegro become a green and climate resilienr economy, to strengthening the country’s coordination and technical capacities to engage with the GCF, through activities that are in line with Montenegro national climate change policy and government priorities. Montenegro as a developing country and with a strong attitude toward EU integration will see a decrease in international cooperation funds in the coming years, therefore empowerment of NFP and coordination mechanisms will allow doing more with less and having a higher impact on the ground.
