Egypt set up its own mechanism to engage all concerned stakeholders through forming a national committee composed of representatives of all ministries and relevant academia on GCF-related issues to identify priority projects/ proposals ensuring consultation and national ownership.

The Ministry of Environment as the national focal point of GCF will be assisted by a team of national experts and researchers and will establish a dedicated GCF unit.

• In terms of institutional strengthening of the NDA, technical assistance to staff responsible for managing the GCF portfolio will be provided.
• Assessment of national context of climate change in Egypt based on desk review of the Third National Communication (TNC), Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs), Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and National Adaptation Strategy will occur
• National consultations will also occur in order to identify gaps and priority areas in mitigation & adaptation which will help in the development of the country programme. Such activities need both technical and financial support to be achieved through organizing national workshops, bilateral meetings, and technical backstopping from relevant institutions to involve stakeholders to seek coherence of the country programs
