SANBI is seeking readiness support from the GCF to: i) strengthen SANBI’s financial management and project management systems, noting the need to improve systems to deal with the anticipated GCF programme of work, and to manage compliance with GCF policies and the monitoring and reporting requirements; and ii) set up national processes that support the development of a transformative, rolling project pipeline e.g. piloting a national call for proposals based on SANBI’s institutional mandate in support of national priorities. The readiness funding will support capacity building and stakeholder engagement processes at the national and sub-national government level, including with community stakeholders and the private sector. SANBI aims to identify through these national processes at least two opportunities which can be progressed to Concept Notes and finally, Funding Proposal stage. These two Concept Notes are in addition to an Enhanced Direct Access (EDA) Concept Note, which is in the process of being developed into a Funding Proposal with domestic resources.
