Extended droughts, lesser incidences of rainfall, and aggressive cyclones devastate the population’s livelihoods, a great deal of which relying on agriculture. With harsh environmental conditions and low yields and incomes, smallholder farmers turn to alternative sources of revenue and food to survive.
