GCF’s unique role in catalysing a green, resilient recovery
Developing countries – already the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change – are hardest hit by the humanitarian and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. While OECD countries can provide large-scale stimulus packages, most developing countries lack the financial resources and monetary capacity to roll out ambitious recovery measures. Climate finance is key to enabling vulnerable countries revive their economies in sustainable ways and bring about transformational change. In this video statement, Green Climate Fund (GCF) Executive Director Yannick Glemarec highlights how GCF can make a major contribution to green, resilient recovery in developing countries and accelerate a transition to low-emission, climate-resilient development.
